Episode 12: Being Salman Rushdie
Posted by sandeep on August 18th, 2011You can now log into most web and mobile applications via Facebook Connect, a service that is essentially an online extension of yourself. This presents a less entertaining, but definitely more efficient, technology than the tunnel Charlie Kaufman constructed to help people enter John Malkovich. Imagine the Being John Malkovich sequel, where John Cusack would just install an app, click Connect With Facebook, and immediately be inside of Malkovich from the comfort of his own (weird) living room.
This episode of Post-Nup is an important look at the future of this people-entering technology. And don’t be scared of people-entering technology! For writers and other artists who find it difficult to charge for their work in the Internet era, it presents the possibility of an additional, much-needed revenue stream. If a fan will pay good coin to watch a behind-the-scenes documentary about you, how much more would they pay to sit inside your fraggin’ head for a while?
I would pay good money to sit inside of a lot of different people. And so would the talented Parvesh Cheena (star of Outsourced, RIP), who is guest-starring in Episode 12.
Enjoy.
PS. Post-Nup will be screened September 14th (closing night!) at the United Film Festival in Chicago.

Comic 21: Smart Phones
Posted by sandeep on January 7th, 2011Comic 19: Open, As In Closed
Posted by sandeep on December 17th, 2010Like many of my 2nd generation friends, my father went to Stanford in the 70s, back when free love was part of the curriculum. His experience growing up in Uganda was so different from hippy San Francisco, that beyond growing a Jesus Christ beard, he was mostly lost.
So, he went back to India and married my mom, who raised my sister and me in a 1973 still-photo, freeze-frame version of a proper Indian upbringing. The short skirts and “friends with benefits” culture in modern Delhi and Bombay left her behind too.
Though their son was born here, he often feels just as lost when it comes to this kind of thing, which can cause him to refer to himself in the third person.
He apologizes.

Post-Nup Comic 6: Post-Hope
Posted by sandeep on August 18th, 2010You were so excited. What happened?
Issue 6: Post-Hope
Posted by sandeep on August 18th, 2010Post-Nup Comic: Issue 1
Posted by sandeep on July 6th, 2010Today, we are launching the Post-Nup comic, coming at you weekly. It’s just like the animated version, only quieter (and usually not as NSFW, but no guarantees there).
For those of you who emailed us, don’t worry: the animated show will continue (and we’re already hard at work on Episode 6!).
The comic just gives us a chance to give you more Post-Nup; and, if you’re honest with yourself, more Post-Nup is really what your marriage (or lack thereof) needs.
So here is our first comic. It’s about TV. And trying new things. And threesomes.
See Issue 1 of the Post-Nup comic >>
We hope you enjoy.
PS. Dude, have you not watched episode 5 yet?
Episode 5: Married Fights End Faster
Posted by sandeep on June 28th, 2010It’s been a while since we last posted an episode of Post-Nup.
That’s because Omar and Gaby have been partying their married assess off. And drunken nights lead to lots of things, including production delays.
Exciting News! We’re going to be starting a weekly Post-Nup comic next week. We think that people who are annoyed by my voice will particularly dig it.
See you next week,
- Sandeep
PS. We’re delighted that Episode 2of Post-Nup will be featured at the Long Island Film Festival this year.
PSS. Check us out in the Republic of Brown this week.

Posted by sandeep on April 28th, 2010[DIY TV] Four Pieces of Inspiration
Posted by sandeep on March 5th, 2010This is a series of blog posts about the inspiration, business, and process of making our little show, Post-Nup. Our goal is to share experience and help anyone who wants to make a show (or really, anything).
If you’re an artist, consider yourself officially out of excuses.
The cost to produce your material, distribute it widely, and reach out to potential fans is no longer a real barrier. Sure, you can’t start with Avatar, but it’s easier than ever to make the little films that could eventually get you there.
But, that’s probably not what’s really stopping you (or me). What stops us is fear: that our work will be rejected, that it won’t be as good as what we’ve done before, that we were never good enough to do it in the first place, etc., etc., blah blah blah.
If you need some inspiration (or a sharp kick in the ass), here are 4 pieces (interviews, speeches, and books) that have inspired me (or kicked me in the ass, sharply).
1. Ira Glass on the Taste Gap
Ira Glass is the creator and host of the radio show This American Life. In an interview with CurrentTV, he tells us that the only way to bridge the gap between the stuff you like (your taste) and what you are capable of (your skill) is to work really hard, for a really long time (inspired yet?). I really appreciated the end of this segment, where he actually plays some of his earlier radio work, which as he says, is actually kinda crappy.
You can watch the full interview on storytelling ...Read More
the annies
Posted by sandeep on February 8th, 2010So, The Story of Walls didn’t win the Annie for Best Short (damn you, Seth Green!), but the Annies were awesome. Here were some of the highlights for me:

Spliggityfidge!
Posted by sandeep on February 7th, 2009After recording episodes 1 & 2 of Post-Nup at the Monsoon office, using GarageBand, and a tremendous, unbreakable will (GarageBand sucks for VO, we have to wait for construction sounds, people trampling upstairs, etc. etc.), we’ve switched over to an actual recording studio. Hallelujah.

We’re recording over at Spliggityfidge, a fantastic recording studio run by Kevin Weber, who along with our sound designer Tim Galida, is in the band Blue Rabbit. We were able to record what used to take 6 hours in about 90 minutes, and more importantly, were able to record both me and Katharine at once, which feels like it will lead to more natural dialog.
